Services: A consortium of agencies and individuals concerned about the provision of services and care to people with HIV/AIDS in East Harlem. The Network aims to improve the availability, accessibility, quality and coordination of services for persons living with and/or affected by HIV/AIDS.

English, Spanish, French, German spoken. Most written materials in English; some in Spanish.

Services: HIV general medical services, Nursing services, Sick call visits, Case Management services, Food and Nutrition services, Social Services (housing, legal, family support, etc.), Assistance and/or supervision with activities of daily living, Counseling for HIV risk reduction, Directly observed therapy program (DOT) for greater adherence assistance, Harm Reduction services, Mental Health and Psychiatric services, Activities which promote involvement in the community, interpersonal and self care functions, Referrals for dental services and sub-specialty care including GYN care, Pastoral Counseling for any client requesting such services.

Eligibility: Clients must be 18 or older

Settlement Health (East Harlem)

Services: HIV Services by appointment or walk-in; HIV Counseling and Testing, HIV Case Management, Support Groups; Other Services include women’s health, pediatric medicine, adult medicine, and an array of social services, including crisis intervention, perinatal case management, substance abuse referrals, and domestic violence referrals.

Cost: $30 for uninsured with proof of income, proof of residency, any picture ID. These documents are also required for discounted medications at the pharmacy across the street; $30 for referrals (they refer to Mt. Sinai)

Legal Action Center - Free Legal Services for HIV-Positive New Yorkers

Services: The Legal Action Center can help HIV-positive New Yorkers address a host of legal issues, including overcoming barriers created by a criminal record, HIV discrimination, confidentiality & testing, standby guardianships, living wills and health care proxies. Their consultation is free, with the only stipulation being that you must be a New York resident. Furthermore, if they cannot directly help you, they will put you in touch with paralegals who will point you in the right direction.
