New patients need a Medical Record Number (MRN) created in Epic if they don't already have one. Here are some steps to create a new patient and MRN in Epic. Please reach out to Chief CMs for any questions/issues with this!
- On Epic, click Patient Station
- Enter the patient's first and last name, date of birth, and gender
- If the patient does not show up on search, click "create new patient" on bottom left of the screen
- MAKE SURE NAME AND DOB ARE CORRECT
- This will create a new MRN
- When you go to schedule the patient, it will prompt/allow you to enter the following:
- Phone number
- Social security number (leave blank)
- Address
- Sex
- Language
- Interpreter required
- Race
