The following are all excellent reasons to call Dr. Meah and Dr. Thomas (And Dr. Craig Katz for psych ED referrals)
NOTE — calling the Chief TS FIRST is a great way to gauge whether this is an emergency!
1) Patient emergency in clinic – a patient needs to go to the ER or has a significant emergency in clinic, or has positive HIV test results. If the patient is going to the psychiatric ED, please call Dr. Craig Katz so he can call the psych ED and let them know an EHHOP pt is going.
2) If students have an emergency in clinic – i.e. blood exposure, medical issue, follow the Needle Stick Protocol. The student will have to go to the ER.
3) If you feel like you are highly uncomfortable with the condition of a patient before or after the Attendings leave clinic and you are unsure of the next steps (after calling the Chief TS)
