Orders not showing up in In Basket > Orders.
This is a problem because you cannot enter specimen info or POCT results. Also, you cannot visualize your queue.
Differential diagnosis and solution:
Order was signed in another firm. For some reason when orders are signed in another firm, the labels print out there, but do NOT enter the EHHOP Orders queue. In this case, just Downtime form it (see below).
Order was signed in a non-EHHOP context. Get the order re-signed (more accurately, canceled and re-signed) in the EHHOP context.
Someone DONE’d the lab. Nothing you can do. This is a diagnosis of exclusion. Basically only the preceptors, Yasmin Meah, David Thomas, and the current teaching seniors can DONE the labs. Let Operations Director know to try to track down the DONEr.
I’ve tried everything, and still nowhere to enter the info!
Don’t panic. There was a time before EPIC when all orders when on triple carbon copy forms.
Retrieve Downtime forms from bins sitting in shelves behind the head of the appt scheduling CM (the bay outside the preceptor room). They are the triple carbon copied ones in which you can indicate which lab test you would like.
When handing off labs in East Building, be sure to communicate that there was a problem and make it easy on them by having separate bags for each patient with his or her respective Downtime form. Call 4Labs with any questions.
For the POCT results, enter the results as a progress note or addendum. Inform Operations Director to contact EPIC to investigate the issue.
