You need to document a telephone encounter for any clinical calls. You should also document calls regarding coordination of care (reviewing lab results with a patient, communicating new medications or referrals to a patient.
- Click on the red Epic button on the top left of the screen → Patient Care → Telephone Call → Enter in the patient’s name or MRN
- Provider: Your Name
- Department: EHHOP
- FILL IN: Contacts, Reason for Call, Documentation, Routing (Dr. Meah, David Skovran, Chief TS, TS mentor, Head TS of the week)
- Close the encounter and co-sign to Dr. Meah
Note: You should also send a staff message if the telephone encounter includes any changes to management or you would like feedback, or if you've pended orders on the telephone encounter and need them signed.
